How to Choose a Power Bank in Bangladesh: Capacity, Charging and Travel Rules
Compare power-bank capacity, USB-C charging support, device compatibility, portability and airline rules before buying in Bangladesh.

The right power bank in Bangladesh is the one that can charge your device at a useful speed, fits the way you carry it and has clear product and warranty details. A large mAh number alone does not tell you how many full charges you will get, and a USB-C port alone does not guarantee fast charging. Match the power bank’s output protocol and wattage to your phone, tablet or laptop before comparing capacity.
Match the power bank to your devices
Start with the device you most need to charge. Check its manual or manufacturer page for supported charging standards and input wattage. For a phone, the goal may be a compact backup for a commute or a long day outside. For a tablet or USB-C laptop, you may need a higher output and a larger battery; many small power banks will not charge a laptop at all.
| What to check | What it tells you | What to verify on the listing |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity in mAh and Wh | Approximate stored energy | Whether both values and the rated battery voltage are stated |
| USB-C output | Connector and port capability | Output voltage/current and supported fast-charge protocol |
| USB Power Delivery (PD) | A negotiated charging standard | Whether the device and power bank support a compatible PD profile |
| Number of ports | How many devices can connect | Whether output is shared when several ports are used |
| Weight and dimensions | How practical it is to carry | The exact model size, not only product photos |
| Warranty and seller | Support if it fails | Named provider, duration, invoice and claim route |
Understand capacity without expecting a guaranteed number of charges
mAh measures electric charge, not the whole delivered energy story. Power banks store energy at an internal cell voltage and convert it for a device, so conversion losses and device use affect how much reaches the battery. If the power bank lists watt-hours (Wh), use that as a more direct energy comparison. A rough conversion from a stated mAh rating is: Wh = mAh × nominal cell voltage ÷ 1,000. Use the voltage printed by the maker; do not assume every product uses the same value.
Even a simple capacity ratio is only an estimate. The phone may be on, using mobile data, navigating or running a hotspot while charging. Battery age, temperature, cable quality and charging speed also affect the result. Treat “number of charges” claims as scenarios, not promises.
USB-C is not the same as fast charging
USB-C describes a connector. USB-IF explains that USB Type-C is not itself USB Power Delivery. A power bank can have a USB-C port without offering the charging protocol or wattage your device expects. Check the specifications for each port and match them to the phone or laptop’s supported standard. For example, a laptop needing higher-wattage USB-C PD may charge slowly or not at all from a low-output bank.
When using multiple ports, the total output may be divided. Confirm whether the listed wattage applies to one port alone or to simultaneous charging. Use a compatible cable rated for the charging mode; a fast power bank cannot make an unsupported device charge faster.
Pick a size you will actually carry
A higher-capacity model usually adds weight and bulk. If you only need an emergency top-up, a smaller unit may be easier to keep in a bag. If you travel for long periods or have several devices, a larger bank may be more practical—but check its weight, charge time and airline restrictions. Also ask whether a cable is included and whether the bank can recharge and power a device at the same time.
Check air-travel rules before packing it
Power banks contain spare lithium batteries. IATA’s 2026 passenger guidance says power banks must be carried in cabin baggage rather than checked baggage, and gives limits based on watt-hours. Airlines can apply stricter rules or additional handling conditions. Read the exact airline’s current policy before travel; do not rely on a retailer’s old product page or a general rule-of-thumb. Make sure the Wh rating is visible on the device or documentation, since an unclear rating can complicate airport screening.
Buy with a clear local support trail
For Bangladesh listings, confirm the exact model, seller name, invoice, warranty provider and return conditions. Avoid choosing only by an unusually high capacity claim or an attractive price. Look for a clear output table, safety certifications stated for that model, and a manufacturer or distributor support route you can verify. Keep the packaging and receipt until you know the return and warranty process.
Before checkout
- Confirm your device’s charging protocol and required wattage.
- Compare Wh and physical size alongside mAh.
- Check the individual port output and shared-output behavior.
- Confirm cable support and included accessories.
- Verify seller identity, invoice and written warranty terms.
- Check airline rules for your route before flying.
Frequently asked questions
Will a 20,000 mAh power bank charge every phone several times?
There is no universal number. Usable energy depends on conversion loss, the phone’s battery size and use while charging. Compare watt-hours and regard charge-count claims as estimates.
Does every USB-C power bank fast-charge a phone?
No. USB-C is the connector type. Fast charging depends on the power bank, cable and device supporting a compatible charging protocol and power profile.
Can I put a power bank in checked baggage?
IATA’s current guidance says power banks belong in carry-on baggage. Your airline may add conditions, so check its current rules before you travel.
